About Me

I was
born in Sheffield in 1980 and lived there until I left for university in 1999. My parents are secondary school teachers and I attended my local comprehensive school, Silverdale.

As well as playing a lot of sport, I've always been involved in the theatre, and spent six happy years as part of the Crucible Youth Theatre, taking part in my first professional show at the age of 13.

I studied A-Levels at Sixth Form, before going to read law at the University of Leicester. At the end of my first year I was lucky enough to be selected for the university's international legal exchange programme which meant that I got to spend the third year of my studies in South Africa at Rhodes University in Grahamstown. After a great year studying a wide range of legal modules I returned to Leicester to complete the fourth and final year of my degree. I graduated in 2003 but still had a desire to become a professional actor so I spent the next year doing theatre in education shows in schools around Nottingham and Manchester. I became a member of Equity and joined an actor's co-operative agency in Sheffield (Otto Personal Management).

Having enjoyed my experiences in educational theatre I decided to audition for drama school and was lucky to win a place at East 15 Acting School on their three-year BA Acting course. I graduated in 2007 and have been doing various bits and pieces of professional acting work ever since - including TV (Emmerdale, The Royal Today, The Private Life of Edward II, Fight Club - History of Violence) and voiceover work (BBC, Aviva). I also have a day job at a sales and marketing agency in London Docklands that solely employs professional actors.

I moved to Woolwich Arsenal in 2008 and live with my partner Janna, who is a nurse at Guys and St Thomas' hospital. I've been actively involved with the Labour Party for some time now, serving as both the Branch Secretary for Woolwich Riverside Ward and Vice-Chair (Campaigns) of Greenwich & Woolwich Constituency Labour Party continuously since June 2013.

In 2014 I stood as a candidate in the local elections for Eltham South, as well as helping to co-ordinate the Labour Party's efforts across Greenwich & Woolwich CLP's wards. I am currently working on the 2015 General Election campaign.

In my spare time I play social sports - as a member of the Softball team 'The Thunder Beavers', the Dodgeball team 'The Working Class Heroes' and my office 5-A-Side team, RSVP Eindhoven.

For my sins I am also an avid fan of Sheffield United Football Club and try to see them play (usually quite badly!) whenever I can get the time. I also follow Leicester Tigers RFC, the Boston Red Sox and the San Francisco Giants.

I am very much enjoying playing an active role with the Greenwich &Woolwich Labour Party and hope I can continue to contribute to the party's great work in the community.
